... or, if you prefer a common name, this bug is the Fantastic Green Lacewing with Diogenes Syndrome. The insect is a extinct specie of 110 millioms years ago, preserved in Ambar. You can see the details in http://www.deviantart.com/users/outgoing?http://www.pnas.org/cgi/doi/10.1073/pnas.1213775110

Two years ago I received a proposal of R. Pérez, paleo entomologist in the University of Barcelona, for make a illustration of this beast. I offer to make a 3d model because is a better way for make a detailed recreation and we can also try a motion scene.

It was a free of costs work, because they don't have budget for, thus I model the insect in my free time. I need two weeks for the sketchs you can see in this post, and two months for the finished mesh. Working full time I suposse that I could have done all the work in three weeks.

Mesh needs 83000 polys, 31 layers and 52 weightmaps

ALso you cant see a little vido of this beast in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldIZSQcZONk
I imported the mesh to Lightwave, next I modified the head for make different hornes style for male and female and finally I make the sex position (I decided to use a mammal style, similar to rhinos or elephants). For render, I loaded the background image in layout for ambience light. Thus, the integration was easier.
Thus, I decided to use a pure bird-style copulation pose. During mating, male crane mount over female back, and balance his body with the wings. Maybe the answer is only a question of sexual sizes: if female sauropods are bigger than males, the weight problem isn't a big problem.
